Swedish Massage is a classic massage treatment which is perfect for all round health and well-being. This form of massage uses a range of techniques to both stimulate and relax the body. A range of pressures and movements can be applied to tailor a treatment to the needs of the individual.

I have an excellent range of superior quality, pre-blended aromatherapy and plain carrier oils for you to choose from. All of these oils come as standard, with no additional charge.

Health benefits of Swedish massage

The benefits of having a massage are vast and the list below are just a few as examples:

  • Improves circulation
  • Improves muscle condition – relaxing tired muscles and loosen tight muscles
  • Improves the condition and tone of the skin
  • Improves flexibility and joint mobility
  • Can help reduce stress and anxiety
  • Can help with the symptoms of depression
  • Can help provide pain relief
  • Can help reduce tension and break down knots
  • Can aid the body’s natural detox process through lymphatic drainage
  • Increase concentration
  • Increase in energy levels

Comfort

Feeling comfortable and supported during your treatment is so important which is why I use a 3 piece cushion system for all treatments that take place on the massage table.  This system is designed for upmost comfort as it prevents  squishing to the breast/chest and tummy areas whilst keeping your spine in alignment.

The treatment

Full body massage

A full body massage will usually last approximately 60 minutes.  The routine will begin with the client laying on their front initially to have the backs of their legs and then the back, neck and shoulders massaged.  The client will then be turned over to receive a massage to their feet, the front of the legs, arms and hands, neck and face.   Some clients prefer not to have their feet massaged and this can be discussed and agreed prior to the treatment taking place.

Back, neck & shoulders

The back neck and shoulders massage will usually last around 30 minutes and will concentrate on the areas where tension and pain tend to build up. This treatment can take place either on the massage table or in a massage chair and this can be discussed and agreed at the time of booking.

Legs and feet

The legs and feet can often get neglected even though they can work extremely hard on a daily basis and are just taken for granted. This massage will last for around 30 minutes and will provide relief for tired feet and aching muscles.

Prior to any massage treatment, you will be given a free consultation which will go through a list of contraindications as detailed above.  If you have any of these conditions or something else that you think may effect you having a massage then do please contact me to discuss prior to making a booking.  This will help to avoid any delay or disappointment if medical approval does need to be sought.
